  • Waste Management Plan

Waste management on a project is ultimately the responsibility of the Project Manager however; the coordination of this activity is usually discharged through the Project HSSE Manager.

1. Purpose
This Construction Waste Management Plan establishes guidelines for proper segregation, handling, storage, transportation and disposal of all wastes generated by the Project during construction phase. The primary purpose of this Waste Management Plan is to: Identify the different types of waste stream as defined by the regulation and their segregation methods. Define responsibility for the handling of waste and its management from source to safe disposal. Demonstrate compliance with Project Contractual Waste Management requirements, COMPANY policies and plans, and with all relevant Iraqi Environmental laws, rules, and regulations applicable regarding Waste Management. Define the plans for recording, monitoring tracking, and reporting of waste

2. Scope
This WMP is applicable to all functional aspects of the work scope for the Project described below: Jabal Alkhaloud Co.

3. Project Title:
The scope of this Waste Management Plan is applicable to this Project. This Plan applies to all 
A.Construction Contractors including the Sub-Contractors personnel.
B.The CWMP is a dynamic, live document and will evolve as necessary throughout the Project life- cycle.

4. ROLES AND RESPONSIBLITIY
Construction contractor Project Manager is responsible to provide required HSSE resources and ensure sub-Contractors establish and maintain sufficient and competent resources (people, equipment, materials, and information) in line with COMPANY HSSE requirements.

5. WASTE MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLE, CLASSIFICATION AND QUANTIFICATION:
A. Waste Management Principle.
B. Waste Sources, Classification and Quantification.
6. WASTE COLLECTION, TRANSFER, SEGREGATION AND STORAGE:
A. Waste Collection and Transfer.
B. Waste Handling and Storage Facility.
C. Designated area near to MJ15- will be allocated for storing non-hazardous wastes.
D. Hazardous Waste Storage Area.

7. WASTE TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL OPTIONS:
A. Non-hazardous Waste Disposal.
B. hazardous Waste Disposal.

8. MONITORING AND REPORTING:
Environmental Engineer will regularly monitor waste storage, segregation, transfer and disposal facilities.
He will also ensure a high standard of housekeeping and good material storage.
Work areas shall be inspected by Environmental Engineer on an informal ongoing basis to verify compliance of CWMP. Any non-compliance shall be rectified immediately.
An investigation may be instituted, depending on the nature and/or frequency of occurrence of the non compliance.
In addition, daily inspections will be conducted by Site Environmental Engineer/HSSE Advisors.
